I wanted to share a great idea for a fun little day trip that your kid's will love!
Last weekend we took a trip out to Palm Springs for lunch and then decided to visit the Living Desert Zoo in Palm Desert (15 minutes from Palm Springs). The Living Desert Zoo is a wildlife and botanical park showcasing over 40 animal species living in their natural desert habitat. This place is amazing! We we saw mountain lions, zebras, bobcats, coyotes, cheetas, foxes and more.
My two year old daughter loved looking at all the animals and especially the petting zoo located in African Village WaTuTu. What I found interesting about this zoo is how naturally the animal exhibits fit into the surrounding environment. There are great hiking trails and the exhibits are actually set amongst the botanical gardens filled with desert flora. If you get tired of walking, you can ride the tram that loops around the park (for a small fee).
Attractions:

This was a very fun and educational trip and I'm sure we will be future visitors to the Living Desert Zoo.
