Spring Activities
Spring is here! A time for BBQ’s, playing in the park and going barefoot (or at least digging out those flip flops)! In California we are lucky enough to have pretty mild weather all year round, but there is just something special about spring: The flowers, the sunshine, longer days and the Easter Bunny are all reasons why I love this time of year. Spring is definitely a time to get outside with the family. To kick off Spring, I thought I would share some of my favorite spring activities.
Inland Empire Events
Ducks and Bunnies, what could be a better kick off to Spring? At 12:30pm over 500 rubber duckies will be released into Lake Gregory. The owner of the first duck to make it to shore will win $500.
Other Activities: Pancake Breakfast with the Easter Bunny (8 - 11am, San Moritz Lodge), Egg Hunt (11:45). Directions: Take I-15 North to I-210 East Exit Waterman/Hwy. 18. Turn Left and travel 11 miles to Hwy 138. Turn Left on Hwy. 138 and Right on Lake Dr. For more info or to purchase a duck call (909) 338-5230. Proceeds from the Pancake Breakfast will go towards purchasing books for the new Crestline Library.
It’s daffodil time once again! Since July 2001 over 58,000 daffodils planted in Twin Peaks. These Daffy’s come to bloom in the spring and they are quite a site. While in town stop by Lake Arrowhead Village where there is shopping, dining, carnival rides and more! Admission is free. Directions: Take 210 to Waterman Exit, turn left. Follow Hwy 18 up 14 miles. Make Left on Lake Gregory Dr then immediate Right on Hwy 189. The daffodils start about a mile up Hwy 189. For more info: (909) 337-4542
April 17th & 18th
The Oak Glen Apple Blossom Festival celebrates spring! If you have never been to this quaint apple growing community, now is the perfect time to plan a visit. The hills come alive with the sight and smell of pink and white blossoms that are in bloom this time of year. Highlights: A quilt show, barn dance, and restaurant specials. There’s a petting zoo, train rides, pony rides, crafts, artisans and more! Admission is Free. Directions: Take the I-10 towards Palm Spring. Exit on Hwy 79-Beaumont Avenue. Turn Left and proceed 8.4 miles until you see the sign that reads “Welcome to Oak Glen”. (909) 797-6833
Orange County Events
Easter egg hunts begin daily at 10:00 AM and tickets may be purchased to participate in an egg hunt at a specific time. Please bring an Easter basket for each child that will be participating in the Easter egg hunt. Irvine Park Railroad also offers Easter baskets for sale. The Annual Blues Festival is filled with three stages of music, micro brewers and an International Food Courtt. There will be a Kidz EcoFest stage with acts geared towards younger audiences. Los Angeles Events
Featuring bunny related crafts and activities including the Be-A-Bunny Ear Craft and Funny Bunny Face Painting. Children can also pet bunnies and plant their own carrot seeds to take home and photos with Big Bunny. Admission: Adults $10, Kids $7. San Diego Events
Seaport Village comes alive with a celebration of street performers. Entertainment includes jugglers, sword swallowers, comedic stunt men and Didjeridoo players. Seaport Village’s cobblestone streets are the perfect setting for a weekend of outdoor family amusement. Located on Harbor Dr and Pacific Hwy. Take I-5 to Front Street exit. Turn right on Ash Street. This North San Diego County city of Fallbrook celebrates its designation as “the avocado capital of the world. Highlights include live music and performances, arts & crafts, games and array of fantastic foods. Directions: Take I-15 fwy. South, Exit on Fallbrook Mission Rd andTurn Right.
