I was in the store the other day and noticed all the back to school supplies are out! That means it's almost the end of summer and the beginning of the LA County Fair. I've gone almost every year for as long as I can remember. This year the Fair will be open Wednesdays - Sundays from September 4th - October 3, 2010. Opening Weekend $1 Specials

Labor Day weekend, Saturday, Sept. 4 – Monday, Sept. 6

• Admission –$1, 10 a.m. – 1. p.m., regular admission rates apply after 1

• Beverages – $1 for 22 oz. soft drinks at all food stands, 1 – 4 pm

• Carnival - $1 rides and games in the carnival, 4–7pm

Online pre-sale admission tickets – through Aug. 31

$10 adult and $6 child any-day admission tickets available online beginning July 1 - Aug. 31.

Season Pass - $24.95

Good for admission any day of the Fair for ages 6 and older.

American Red Cross Blood Drive

Be a lifesaving hero and go to the Fair for free. The L.A. County Fair and the American Red Cross are partnering for the third year to sponsor two blood drives – Friday, Aug. 20 and Tuesday, Sept. 14. Give the gift of life by donating blood and receive one admission ticket to the Fair, good for any weekday of the Fair. The blood drives are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sheraton Fairplex hotel. Free parking is available at the Sheraton. Donors can make an appointment by visiting givelife.org and entering the sponsor code fairmckinley.

A Weekend for Heroes

Friday – Sunday, Sept. 10 – 12

$1 admission for active and retired military, reserves, police, fire and paramedics along with one guest. ID required. All $1 admission proceeds will be donated to USA Cares.

Food Drive Fridays

Fair guests who bring five cans of food on Fridays to the Fair receive an admission ticket. Offer may not be combined. All canned food will be donated to Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

McDonald’s Wednesdays

$20 admission and unlimited ride carnival wristband with coupon available at participating Southern California McDonald’s restaurants beginning Aug. 30.

Ralphs $10 Any-day Admission Ticket

Visit any participating Ralphs grocery store Aug. 23 to Oct. 3 to purchase admission tickets $10 for adults and $6 for ages 6-12. Each Ralphs adult and child any-day admission ticket comes with an exclusive unlimited ride carnival wristband offer (purchase required, restrictions apply). Wristbands are $35 and must be purchased before 9 p.m., good until 11 p.m. weekdays; must be purchased before 4 p.m., available for use until 7 p.m. weekends. Wristbands must be purchased at a designated carnival wristband redemption kiosk. Presented by Ralphs.

Senior Wednesdays

$6 admission for ages 60 and older every Wednesday.

$5 after 5 p.m. Wednesday – Friday
